Models EM-48 and EM-60
Eave Mount Installation Instructions

1.  Using a level, position the lower (larger) bracket horizontally across the eave so that the center of the bracket is directly below the peak of the roof and so the screw holes at the ends of the bracket are centered over solid 2" x 4" or larger wood. Lower Bracket

2.  With an ink pen, trace around the inside of the "teardrop" screw holes on both sides of the lower bracket. Set aside the lower bracket, and with a drill and a 1/8" drill bit, drill a pilot hole 1" deep in the upper part of each of the "teardrop" outlined areas marked with the pen. Teardrop Screw Hole

3.  With a 7/16" ratchet wrench or nut driver, screw all but 1/4" of two of the 5/16" x 2 1/2" galvanized lag screws into the predrilled holes. Position the lower bracket so that the lag screws stick through the holes in the bracket, then slide the bracket down so that the lag screws fit snugly into the top of the screw holes. Finish tightening the lag screws until the bracket is firmly attached to the structure, but be careful not to overtighten. Fastening Lower Bracket

4.  Take the antenna mast (not supplied) and fit it inside of the clamp of the installed bottom bracket so that the bottom of the mast is resting on the swivel mast support. Mast Support

5.  Using a level, position the upper (smaller) bracket so that the mast is plumb and so that the screw holes on both sides of the bracket are centered over solid 2" x 4" or larger wood. With an ink pen, mark the inside of the screw holes on both sides of the bracket. Remove the mast from both brackets and set aside both the mast and the upper bracket. Using a drill and a 1/8" drill bit, drill a pilot hole 1" deep inside both of the marked circles. Upper Bracket

6.  Reinstall the mast inside of the lower bracket clamp and tighten. Position the upper bracket over the mast and slide down until the screw holes in the bracket line up with the predrilled holes in the structure. Before the upper bracket is secured, use the level to make sure that when the upper bracket is positioned against the structure that the mast will be plumb. If needed, use the supplied galvanized flat washers to shim the upper bracket away from the structure so that that mast is plumb. Finally, with a 7/16" wratchet or nut driver, fasten the upper bracket to the structure with the remaining 5/16" x 2 1/2" galvanized lag screws. Installed Eave Mount

NOTE:  It is not recommended that antenna masts higher than 6 feet above the upper bracket be used without guy wires. Doing so could cause the mast to bend under high winds.
